ANOTHER MOTHER MOURNS
Daunte Wright’s mother, Katie, eulogized her son at a vigil for him on Monday night in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota. Daunte was shot and killed by Brooklyn Center police officer Kimberly Potter on April 11 during a traffic stop. Potter has been charged with second-degree manslaughter. Potter, a 26-year-police veteran, has said she intended to use a Taser but fired her gun instead. At right, the young man is shown holding his son, Daunte, Jr. Daunte was killed about 10 miles from where former Minneapolis officer Derek Chauvin is on trial in the death of George Floyd. The shooting death has ignited days of unrest and protests.
