Issues with drugs pushed Juanita away from her family, down to Florida, where she was homeless for many years.

Last year, with the help of a charity, Miracle Messages, a California-based nonprofit that reunites homeless people with their families through social media, put her in touch with family.

Now, she’ll spend Christmas in her native Hartford for the first time in decades.
