MELVILLE, N.Y. – Media coverage of African-Americans during the first year of Barack Obama’s presidency constituted just 1.9 percent of the total coverage examined in the last year, according to a think tank’s study released Monday.

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced that eligible Haitian nationals will have an additional 180 days to apply for Temporary Protected Status (TPS), a relief program launched in response to the catastrophic earthquake in Haiti. The new registration deadline is Jan. 18, 2011.
