2012 Tampa Bay Host Committee for the Republican National Convention issues statement on scheduling The Welcome Event

PR NewsChannel: TAMPA – The 2012 Tampa Bay Host Committee CEO and President Ken Jones made the following statement regarding the Welcome Event to be held this evening, Sunday, August 26, 2012 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla.:

“The Tampa Bay Host Committee Welcome Event will continue as planned.  The focus of this event has always been about promoting Tampa Bay by welcoming the delegates, media and guests to our area for the Republican National Convention. Based on current weather information, the Tampa Bay area will be in a position to safely host an event of this magnitude while showcasing the widespread community support we have received during the planning process.  The safety of our guests is our highest priority.  We want our guests to experience a safe, enjoyable and welcoming night in Tampa Bay!”

“The Welcome Event will take place from 6 p.m. – 9:30 p.m., with doors opening at 5 p.m.  Invited guests must wear an official Host Committee issued Welcome Event credential to access the event.  No parking is available on-site at Tropicana Field.”
