Florida League 2012 Playoffs – Road to the Trop Begins

In true playoff fashion, the 2012 Florida League Regular Season Championship came down to the final day with the Leesburg Lightning and Winter Park Diamond Dawgs only separated by a half a game. The Leesburg Lightning hosted the Orlando Freedom and left the fans with something to look forward to in the playoffs as they won 19-2 behind an offensive barrage. The Diamond Dawgs visited the Orlando Monarchs and also took care of business while closing out the regular season with a 7-3 victory at Tinker Field. After last nights results, the standings remain the same allowing the Lightning and Diamond Dawgs to lock up home field advantage for the 2012 playoffs. With the victory, the Leesburg Lightning claimed the Regular Season Championship for the 2nd straight year and head into the playoffs as the #1 seed.
